In the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to make something that demonstrated the dualism of the American economic and political systems with gore and drama. Drawing on a history of horror films, I recreated a familiar scene: a monster surprises and kills a person. The golfer, representing American ideas of success and power, lays powerless as he is looked down upon by his formerly human counterpart. Closer examination will yield small details in the drawing, including the blue jean texture of the vampire’s pants, a staple of working-class apparel, and the Polo logo on the golfer’s fine collard shirt, a symbol of status and achievement.
