Bowldozers Skatepark Construction Company

Bowldozers is a skate park construction company that relies on the knowledge of seasoned skateboarders to create the greatest skate parks on the planet. Skilled in wooden, metal, and  concrete construction, this team is more than ready to take on any project.

Much of the design is rooted in creating a contemporary aesthetic that feels older than it is. This is achieved through san serif typography, color transparencies, black and white photography, firmly integrated grids, and dynamic forms that break the grid. Throughout the design process, I looked to old 70’s and 80’s era Powell Peralta advertising and the design work of Aaron Draplin for inspiration.

In the print ads and the poster, visual metaphor is utilized to illustrate the interconnectivity and similarity of skateboarding and construction. These visualizations further imply the duality of the destructive and creative natures of both skateboarding and construction. Where a skateboarder may wear down a ledge over time through grinds, a jackhammer may pulverize the same ledge. Where a cement layer may smooth freshly poured concrete, a skateboarder may rely on that smoothness to achieve a smoother carve in a cement bowl.

In the copywriting, the voice of this company is one of experience, craftsmanship, and directness while maintaining the playful attitude of average skateboarders. These folks have been doing this stuff for decades, and they know what makes a ramp, rail, or wedge worth riding on. They wouldn’t settle for less that great.
